It is certainly not an understatement that Nature has bestowed Kausani with choicest of its gifts in terms beauty and ambience. Fast emerging as one of the ideal places for honeymooners and leisure travelers, Kausani is a perfect weekend getaway from Delhi, located just 47 kilometers north of Almora and Bageshwar district of the Kumaoun region.

It is for its quiet, secluded and inspirational settings that Mahatama Gandhi chose it write his treatise on the Bhagvad Gita, the Anasakti Yoga, here, in 1929 due to which an ashram is also dedicated to his name, which is a popular tourist spot.

Rudradhari Falls & Caves

Recognised by the picturesque setting with surroundings brimming with hill farms, and paddy fields in the shape of trace farms, the Rudradhari Falls & Caves is the perfect place to be. Trek to the waterfalls is rather an easy one that stretches to 1,555 meters above sea level. The caves are located 10 from the city bus stop on the Kausani - Almora Road in Kantali Village.

Besides the waterfalls, there lies a Shiva & Vishnu Temple. Rudradhari gets its name from Hindu god Lord Shiva. The surroundings are well decorated with lush meadows and pine trees. A 2-km trek from Kantali Village takes you to the waterfalls.

 

Baijnath Temple

The 12th-century architectural wonder is located on the banks of Gomati. One of the best places to visit in Kausani, the Baijnath Temple is an immaculate exhibition of ancient art and architecture, which can be clearly seen in the fine carvings and architecture.

The highlight of the temple Uttarayani Fair held every January and is a major pull for the crowd. Plan a visit to the temple belonging to the golden era of India's history tucked at the confluence of Saryu and Gomti. Metallic carvings and fine sculptures make the highlight of is one of the top Kausani tourist places.

 

Anasakti Ashram

Kausani has so much to offer to the history buffs! Located around 300 meters from the town center, the Anasakti Ashram is the place distinguished by the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the entrance. This is the place where stayed for a prolonged period of time and it is here that Gandhiji wrote the Anasakti Yog, which is also lauded as the gospel of selfless action. No wonder why the ashram is ranked as the top Kausani sightseeing attractions.

This one is known as Mahatma Gandhi's one of the most immaculate literary works. One can also find a museum inside the ashram that contains Mahatma Gandhi's photographs and other literary works.

 

Kausani Tea Estate

Kausani's real charm lies in its seamless tea gardens and never-ending vistas around them. Stretching to almost 208 hectares, the tea estates are a must - visit Kausani sightseeing attractions on a trip to Kausani. The acquired flavor and strong aroma of are good enough to get you going.

One can go hiking in the tea estate which is almost 3.5-km long. Such is the fine quality of the tea in Kausani that countries like Australia, America, Germany, and Korea get it imported.

 

Sumitranandan Pant Museum

Sumitranandan Pant Museum is a place with an artistic taste and is a whole new world in itself. Dedicated to famous Hindi poet who was born in Kausani, it offers a wide range of his creative work on display from manuscripts of poems and draft work of her literary work to his awards and letters written by and to him.

A large collection of his books in English and Hindi are showcased in a glass shelves. To celebrate his birth anniversary, every year a poetry discussion is organized in the museum.
